Flash player - the way we have it today

My laptop heats up every single day when i view flash movies on a site - especially YouTube, because that's the most popular and also the one i use the most. I use a linux box but the story with a Windows OS is no different. I read somewhere that flash uses all that CPU because it does not use your video card and that's its technical beauty. Beauty it is - but i guess it has got to a point of bloat beyond which people will find it impossible to place their hands on the hot keyboard & watch a flash movie at the same time.

Then i found minitube - a YouTube client which is available for Mac & Linux users. When i started using minitube my laptop suddenly stopped heating up, videos downloaded much faster, and i was able to use almost all features of YouTube (one critical feature minitube lacks is the YouTube sign-on).

When will flash stop killing the CPU & heating it up? From what i am reading it exaggerated in Flash 10 and i am just hoping that Adobe is looking to fix it. Either they fix the player they have now, or release a 'lite' version for regular users. I would otherwise, love to see more flash player alternatives hit the market!
